Who We Are |
| |
The essence of Ruth and Naomi Senior Outreach (RNSO) is biblical—caring for the “widows and orphans” of our time, as exemplified in the Old Testament book of Ruth, the teachings of Christ, and the practice of the first century church.

History |
| |
RNSO was co-founded in 2003 by Presbyterian Pastors Mary Porter and Lynn Bledsoe as a 501c3 community program initiated through First Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Birmingham, Alabama (www.firstpresbyterianbirmingham.org). RNSO is a replicable and ecumenical model of pastoral care for older adults who are unable to attend church or have no church home. Ruth and Naomi Senior Outreach is a program supported by individuals, churches, private and community foundations. |

Ruth and Naomi is staffed by two chaplains and several volunteers. Ordained ministers, Mary and Lynn are certified music practitioners through the Music for Healing and Transition Program www.mhtp.org. RNSO does not promote congregational or denominational affiliation – rather it is an outreach of pastoral care and confidential services. |
